چکیده

Due to the low-cost nature of sensor network nodes, we cannot generally assume the availability of a high-performance CPU and tamperresistant hardware. Firstly, we propose a reliable broadcast message authentication working under the above-mentioned circumstances. The proposed scheme, although based on symmetric cryptographic primitives, is secure against anyone who knew the message authentication key as well as the malicious router nodes in multi-hop networks. The proposed scheme consists of three steps; (i) reliable broadcast of a message, (ii) legitimate acknowledgments from all the nodes in the network, and (iii) disclosure of the message authentication key. Secondly, we propose a way to reduce the amount of the stored information until the disclosure of the key, in which the server transmits the message integrity code of a message before transmitting the message. Finally, we consider the characteristic and the security issues of the proposed schemes.

Toward an energy efficient PKC-based key management system for wireless sensor networks

Due to wireless nature and hostile environment, providing of security is a critical and vital task in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). It is known that key management is an integral part of a secure network. Unfortunately, in most of the previous methods, security is compromised in favor of reducing energy consumption. Consequently, they lack perfect resilience and are not fit for applications ...

Quasi Random Deployment Strategy for Reliable Communication Backbones in Wireless Sensor Networks

Topology construction and topology maintenance are significant sub-problems of topology control. Spanning tree based algorithms for topology control are basically transmission range based type construction algorithms. The construction of an effective backbone, however, is indirectly related to the placement of nodes. Also, the dependence of network reliability on the communication path undertak...

Security Analysis of Lightweight Authentication Scheme with Key Agreement using Wireless Sensor Network for Agricultural Monitoring System

Wireless sensor networks have many applications in the real world and have been developed in various environments. But the limitations of these networks, including the limitations on the energy and processing power of the sensors, have posed many challenges to researchers. One of the major challenges is the security of these networks, and in particular the issue of authentication in the wireles...

Effective Multi-user Broadcast Authentication in Wireless Sensor Networks

Broadcast authentication is a critical security service in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), as it allows the mobile users of WSNs to broadcast messages to multiple sensor nodes in a secure way. Previous solutions on broadcast authentication are mostly symmetric-key-based solutions such as μTESLA and multilevel μTESLA. These schemes are usually efficient; however, they all suffer from severe ene...

Hybrid Multi-user Broadcast Authentication for Wireless Sensor Networks

In wireless sensor networks (WSNs), broadcast authentication allows only legitimate users (or senders) to disseminate messages into the networks. μTESLA [14] is the first broadcast authentication scheme for WSNs. It allows only few users, mainly several base stations, to broadcast messages, but in reality there are many scenarios that require a large number of dynamic users (mobile sinks or use...
